The radiograph shows a solitary “white” fourth rib on the left side. Such a finding in a middle-aged or older man should alwayssuggest osteoblastic metastasis, particularly from carcinoma of the prostate. In this patient, biopsies of the prostate and affected rib disclosedadenocarcinoma.
