Hopefully, the broad parameters of this longitudinal study will motivate other departments of educational administration, as well as our own, to consider different research questions related to improving principal preparation. For example, (1) Would a longer internship experience, one that required at least a few weeks in a low-performing school, better prepare aspiring principals for the real world of the principalship?, (2) Would a required internship in a low-performing building motivate more PLCs to apply for a principalship in low-performing schools?, (3) How have the opinions of employers related to principal preparation changed in recent years? and (4) What is being done in higher education preparation programs to better prepare principals to turn around failing schools?
