Opdrag 8: Om straling te demonstreer

Benodigdhede:

‘n elektriese verwarmer

‘n stuk ruitglas

  • Skakel ‘n elektriese verwarmer aan.
  • Hou jou hand so 30 cm voor die verwarmer totdat jy die hitte voel.
  • Plaas ‘n stuk ruitglas tussen jou hand en die verwarmer.

  • Hou jou hand 5 cm van die gloeilamp af. Skakel aan.
  • Plaas die ruitglas tussen jou hand en die gloeilamp wanneer jy die hitte voel.

5. MATERIALE KAN ELEKTRISITEIT OORDRA

Eksperimente het bewys dat die enigste vaste stowwe wat elektriese oordrag gelei, metale en grafiet is. Wanneer dit elektrisiteit gelei, vloei elektrone deur die materiaal, maar daar is geen chemiese reaksie nie, daar word geen nuwe stof gevorm nie en hul gewig bly dieselfde.

Suiwer water gelei elektrisiteit. Die geleidingsvermoë verhoog wanneer ‘n suur bygevoeg word.

Elektrisiteit is ‘ n vorm van energie (soos hitte). Dit kan gebruik word om bv. water te kook en dit kan selfs chemiese reaksies laat plaasvind.

Die energie in ‘n elektriese stroom veroorsaak dat watermolekules opbreek.

Hierdie opbreek van ‘n stof soos water deur elektrisiteit word elektrolise genoem.

  • Oop elektriese drade is gevaarlik, veral as daar water naby is. Moet nooit met nat hande aan elektriese apparaat vat nie.
